THE BATHERS centers around the act of bathing, relaxing, and swimming in water. These images include men immersing themselves in three different bodies of water in the Pacific Northwest: the hot springs at Breitenbush Hot Springs, a private beach on the Sandy River, and the public nude beach on the Columbia River at Rooster Rock State Park. Heralding back to "The Swimming Hole" by Thomas Eakins, and "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte" by Georges Seurat, these images provide a context of leisure in the 21st century. This collection of images creates a direct engagement with the quality of light, landscape, and the male body.
